Emerging Technology in the Heavy Equipment Industry

Posted

Construction is one of the least digitized industries in the world, with many still operating the way they did 40-50 years ago.

Stop fighting digitization as now is the time to get your company up to speed to save time, money, and improve production.

If you had the pleasure of attending CONEXPO in Las Vegas this year, it is clear to see that modern technology is making its way into the heavy equipment industry.

Showcased at CONEXPO were many fully autonomous machines, it may seem like something right out of a Sci-Fi movie!

Unlike traditional machines, these are completely automated and able to perform every day jobsite tasks and capable of applying their technologies to the entire construction site process.

Automation in the construction industry has made jobsite execution more efficient, allowing teams to eliminate mistakes and better coordinate the workforce.

Hyundai is ahead of the game when it comes to producing zero emission machines and offering an alternative energy source.

Hyundai was able to demo its 14-ton HW155H Hydrogen Wheeled Excavator for a crowd at CONEXPO. While this machine is still in the early stages of development, it gives us a glimpse of what Hyundai is bringing to the table. We may be a little biased when it comes to this machine because we are a proud Authorized Hyundai dealer, but we are blown away and intrigued by this machine and what it has to offer, not only on performance, but its eco-friendly technology.

HW155H Excavator

The HW155H Excavator harnesses the chemical reaction between hydrogen stored onboard and oxygen in the atmosphere, the hydrogen fuel cell generates electricity.  That pollution-free electricity is then fed to an electric motor which drives the hydraulic system. With 5 hydrogen tanks on board this machine will run full steam continuously for 8 hours, while only taking 10-20 min to refuel. We can’t wait until this machine hits the market!

Take a look at what Stanley "Dirt Monkey" Genadek had to say about the HW155H Excavator ....https://youtu.be/5AHpA3aO7-k?t=1133

There are many options on the market when it comes to construction software, and it can be a little bit overwhelming.  Cloud-based software allows your team to monitor and improve all stages of work in real time. Equipment maintenance, safety & inspection, scheduling & dispatching, bidding & estimating, are just some of the features that this type of software can offer. When looking for cloud-based software, keep in mind your needs and what will benefit your business. Take the time to get trained properly on the software and let it show you how it benefits your business.

New technology is revolutionizing the heavy equipment industry, ultimately this technology allows machines to operate safer, faster, more efficiently, and more profitably than ever.
